In Texas, the battery is the point. Savings alone pay back slowly, because most providers buy your extra power cheaply.

Questions

Straight answers

Is there still a federal tax credit for home solar?

No. The federal 25D tax credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025 (IRS). Our numbers don’t include it. Texas has no state tax credit for homes.

Will my electricity provider pay for the power I send back?

Texas has no statewide net metering. In Oncor and CenterPoint areas, your retail electricity provider buys extra power at its own plan rate — most often 3–8¢ per kWh, and some plans pay nothing. Austin Energy credits 9.91¢ (Value of Solar); CPS Energy about 3–4¢. The estimate asks for your provider so the number is honest.

Do I need a battery in Texas?

Every one of our packages has one. In most of Texas, extra solar power sells for much less than you pay for power, so a battery lets you use more of your own. It also keeps essentials running when the grid goes down. One battery doesn’t back up the whole house; Premium has two.

Will solar raise my property tax?

100% of the value solar adds to your home is exempt from property tax (Texas Tax Code §11.27, form 50-123).

Is Renewable Residences connected to the government or my utility?

No. We’re a private company from Missouri. We are not a utility, not a government program, and not connected to either.

Can I change my mind after I sign?

Yes. In Texas: 5 business days after you sign, for any residential solar sale. Cancel by written notice. (Texas Occupations Code §1806.156). We give you the whole agreement before you sign, and you can take the proposal home. Your rights

Can the rules for solar change later?

Yes. Buyback rates are set by your provider and utility, and regulators can change the rules. Nobody can promise them for 25 years, and we won’t.

My roof is getting old. Should I wait?

Tell us its age. If it needs replacing soon, it is usually better to do it first: taking panels off and putting them back later costs money (installers quote about $300–400 per panel).

Who covers which warranty?

The makers cover their equipment: manufacturer warranties apply under each maker’s terms. Some — Tesla, FranklinWH, REC ProTrust — require a certified installer and product registration; ask us about it before you sign, and check the final warranty documents. We cover our installation and the roof around it: 25 years, in writing.
